The WOW day
Our second day in Iceland was just a day of WOW!s. We drove from Reykolt up to the Snaefellsness Peninsula to see the sights, and the landscape was so very pretty. In many ways, it reminded me of the Trossachs of Scotland, with gently rolling hills covered in green. We got lucky with the weather, and the sun peeked out here and there. This is a really long drive, and we had booked a place to stay along the southern edge of the peninsula because we thought driving back to Reykjavik would be too much. We were a little nervous about the place, as we had to take whatever there was; like Alaska, there is very little habitation for miles and miles. It was just about what we expected; a tiny cabin in the middle of nowhere. It even had sod on the roof! Better than camping, though.
