Back to Reykjavik

June 17 we drove back from Vik and on the way we stopped where we had seen all these people just pulling over on the side of the road; there was this parking area and then people were just leaving and we couldn't figure out where they were going. It turns out that people will go see anything; all you have to do is put a sign up and people will go see it; that's the case here and they walk 2.5 miles to see it. Randy won't let me say what it is, so you have to go to Iceland to find out.

We drove back to Reykjavik and went to the Perlan Center, which was quite good. It looks like a big steel mushroom sprouting up from the earth. They have a cool ice cave exhibit, along with a great presentation on volcanic eruptions, as well as a northern lights planetarium exhibit, and we learned a lot more about the geology and the history of Iceland than we need to know. The museum has a cafeteria and we had some Plokkfiskur (look it up) which was really quite good. Then it was on to our airport hotel, as we fly out tomorrow.
